Handcrafting Skis Since 1912 |
|
Ogasaka has been providing handcrafted wood-core skis to the Japanese market since
1912. We are bound by one purpose, to make the perfect pair of skis. We are striving
to do this to bring the joy of skiing to all types of skiers. Since 1912, we have
been the industry leader in bringing forth new technology and designs to the manufacturing
of skis and snowboards. These technologies have been proven at various events around
the world, including the Olympics, F.I.S. World Cups and World Demonstration Competitions.
Ogasaka Ski has dominated the Japanese ski and snowboard market for the past 95
years, winning numerous awards for product design and excellence. The 2006/2007
product line has evolved from over 90 years of ski making experience.

Making Of Skis |
|
Our prototypes are tested numerous times before production. Four experienced and
fulltime skiers test 10 pairs per test day, 3 test days per week, 20 test weeks
per season. Plus, we also test 30 at public demo days per season with 80 skiers
per demo days. The final 40 pairs are retested 3 times in the off-season. In total,
we test 5280 times to make 30 lines of skis.
Our Experience Ski Engineers
Our ski engineers are nothing but precise. Our state of the art ski-making machines,
which are designed and produced by Ogasaka Ski’s mechanical engineering teams, will
manufacture skis to a tolerance level of 0.01mm.
Quality And Hand-crafted Skis
Every pair of Ogasaka skis is handcrafted and inspected by hand. We guarantee the
quality of each and every pair of skis shipped from our factory.
In order to ensure the quality of skis, we use cold pressing method. Instead of
using a press machine with high temperature for the higher volume production level,
we use low temperature. The higher temperature may be likely to deform materials,
which you are not able to see with your eyes. Skis are made out of different materials,
which are sensitive to temperature. Longer time in the press machine ensure even
distribution of adhesive materials in between layers. It may look the same, but
the quality control inside Ogasaka Ski is the best in the world.
Only The Highest Quality Wood
To ensure the comfort and handling of our skis, we select only the highest quality
wood. Our original method of drying wood makes our wood more suitable for skiing
than any other kind of wood used in the market.
